I'm passionate about travel, food, and languages. Planning a high school trip to see Tom Petty in a Winnebago, I learned that I had a knack for organizing events. After college, I joined the military and was stationed in Panama where I got my first opportunity to really travel. There I met the kindred spirit who became my husband, and we've been globetrotting ever since. I've lived in 6 countries and visited 58. Travel has taught me more about the world, other cultures, and myself than any classroom.
While living In Italy, I took Slow Food masters courses and became the first American sommelier (FISAR). This introduced me to the importance of place, health, and conviviality in food and drink and I've incorporated that love into my adventures. Along the way, I learned Italian and Spanish and I'm hard at work on French. Let me share my joy in planning and taking a trip, with you!
I'm also enthusiastic about the environment, which provides the rich backdrop for our excursions. I think we all have to do what we can to ensure its health. To that end, I encourage sustainable travel like maximizing land and public transport, making responsible purchases, and considering volunteer vacations. A destination needn't be far to be life-changing. Let's explore all of the possibilities together!
